AT&T and FCC Clash Again!
AT&T , reeling from its failed attempt to acquire T-Mobile from its parent company Deutsche Telekom last year, is desperate for some of that "life blood." The carrier is worried that the FCC will manage the proposed auction of government-owned broadcast spectra in a manner that will prohibit it, the second-largest national wireless carrier -- along with Verizon, the largest carrier -- from buying any of it.

AT&T Raises Wireless Data Prices
The carrier said effective Jan. 22 new smartphone customers will have to pay $20 for a 300-megabyte monthly data plan, compared with the current 200-megabyte plan at $15. Smartphone or tablet users needing more data will need to pay $30 for a 3 gigabyte plan, up from $25 for 2 gigabytes.

AT&T to sell Android tablet, 5 smartphones on 4G LTE
The Element will sell for $300 and a two-year contract, The tablet, with an 8-in. touchscreen, would be available Jan. 22. It is the first LTE-connected Android tablet, and will run the Android 3.2 mobile operating system. It is also waterproof, as demonstrated when a Pantec executive dunked the device into a tank of water on stage at the conference.

AT&T To Pay TiVo At Least $215 Million In Patent Suit Settlement
TiVo will get an initial payment of $51 million, and recurring quarterly payments through June 2018 totaling $164 million. AT&T also will pay incremental monthly license fees through July 2018 if AT&T’s DVR subscriber base exceeds certain levels.
